DEI Mailing Lists are managed by a Mailman List Manager. Mailman is free software for managing electronic mail discussion and e-newsletter lists. It is integrated with the web, making it easy for users to manage their accounts and for list owners to administer their lists.
Mailman supports built-in archiving, automatic bounce processing, content filtering, digest delivery, spam filters, and more.
Users can manage all aspects of their mailing lists via the web interface:
http://lists.dei.uc.pt
This page is only accessible from the DEI Network (wired or wireless). To access it from outside DEI, use the VPN service.
Every course taught at DEI uses a mailing list, which is used by teachers and students for course-related discussions. These course mailing lists are restricted to email addresses from the *.uc.pt domain.
There are also many other mailing lists — for research groups, events, specific topics, or general interests. For more information, visit: http://lists.dei.uc.pt
To subscribe to a mailing list, enter your email address and optionally a privacy password. This provides mild security and prevents others from tampering with your subscription. Do not use a valuable password, as it may occasionally be emailed to you in cleartext.
If you choose not to enter a password, one will be generated for you and sent after confirming your subscription. You can request a mail-back of your password or edit your personal options at any time. A reminder email with your password is sent once a month.
To view all the lists you are subscribed to, you need to authenticate in the Mailman system.
For example, to manage the "desporto" mailing list, visit:
https://lists.dei.uc.pt/mailman/options/desporto
The last part of the URL is the name of a mailing list you belong to. After authenticating, click the "List my other subscriptions" button to view all lists you are subscribed to.
Mailing list archives are available at: http://lists.dei.uc.pt. All mailing lists are private, and you must be a member of a list to browse its archives.
